The Chosen

Sons of Perdition

For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property.  To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ABILITY (1).

Who are the chosen? How to know if you are chosen? What makes you chosen? What is it to be chosen! What does it mean to be chosen?

There is no chosen…

...You make yourself chosen or disqualified.

God gives us all Talents like the breath of life He bestows upon each of us the day we were born into this world. The chosen are the ones who uses their talents and multiplies the inspirations and revelations they receive to use it for good. For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability (1). Those who make themselves not chosen are those who receive their talents and inspirations but with malice, frustrations, insecurity and unbelief they do not pursue but give up in the end and despise what God gave them to make a difference for good.

The perfect example of this is the education system. Everyone received their talents in attending school and receive an education. Those who choose themselves go until the end and are graduated amongst the chosen of their academic year group. Those who reject themselves are those who due to frustrations of life, malice, insecurities and unbelief despise their opportunity, their talents and give up like the wicked and lazy servant saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours (2)... in the end leaving without a solid prospect for their life but lose out on that opportunity and talent exchanging for what is not in their own potential and capacity given to them initially.

I also fell under this category as I mentioned in previous blogs. I made myself unchosen when the burdens of teenage life made me to quit pursuing the talents we receive through the education system. With malice, bitterness and frustrations I hid my talents and was cast off as a wicked and lazy servant only to see the faithful as the chosen that they made themselves in not giving up but using the opportunity given by God through education to fulfil those talents and multiply them in careers and jobs that would continue to supply their needs and others.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (3)

This God promised to the captives of Isreal (4) who were taken away to Babylon when they turned their backs on God and were delivered to Nabuchadnezzar, king of Babylon. A promise of hope, peace and restoration. So even if you are in the captivity of failed plans, dreams and talents that you once despised. As long as there is life there is hope and an opportunity for all the living and those in the captivity of failure. And what is it to be alive? It is to believe and have faith. Faith in God and His faithfulness and Promises to all the living and those who believe. Even those who do not believe in God have a form of this substance of faith (5) and are able to attain those God given rights to materialise those things hoped for (5) that do not yet exist and make an impact in the world and the lives of others for good.

For a living dog is better than a dead lion(6)

For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten (6)There is no faith amongst the dead, amongst the grave. No more hopes and no more dreams. But where there is life there will always be hope because He lives, we can live too (7). We can resurrect from the dead of a failed education. The dead of a failed life. The dead of a failed family and relationships. Even the dead of a community. Because He is the God of the resurrection so that there is hope for all the living. You are chosen when you make yourself chosen. You make yourself chosen when you choose to believe and Go!(8)

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? (9)
