Able and Can't

Yes I know the spelling is wrong... it's on PURPOSE.

Cain and Abel, these two brothers have a lot to teach and reflect on the two types of people we are but also can CHOOSE to be. Abel was the brother that got it RIGHT. He just got it, he was born with it...

Able to give the BEST offering

Able to please God

He just got it

But Cain did not.

But something so important in the story of these two brothers that we often see around us in our walks of LIFE, whether it is that sister always making mum and dad proud, that colleague always getting those promotions.

This story of these two brothers teach us a valuable lesson to LEARN from where it all went wrong. That TRUE brotherhood and COMMUNION is to learn from each other, ADMIRE your Abel if your a Cain and if you are Abel, be that example for your Cain. Give that Cain a tip or two so that he two will become Able just as you are.

You know another great advice we find just before the conflict that Cain initiated leaving his brother dead out of jealousy was...

"If you do well will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it."(1)

So that's to all you Can't do it, learn from the one who is Able...Learn until you get it. That's the reason why they're in your life. Whether its a brother, a sister, a friend, a colleague or a neighbour... Rule over that jealousy and envy to see your Abel failing, losing or suffering. God allowed that Abel in your life to help you by showing you how it's done. If you kill your help who is going to show you. You can just run away (2) and do it all by yourself, sure you will get by on your own but you will lose out on the valuable LESSON and benefit of communion, friendship and love that God intended for you to have and SHARE with that someone you may be despising.

"Its not good for man to be alone, I will provide him a suitable helper" (3)

This is not just in marriage but every form of community, fellowship and neighbour you have with you. It brings us back to the story of our Lord Jesus. He was team Abel but the jealousy of those who were team Cain rejected their own help. Yes Jesus was their brother the one who was Able, He was there to be a LIGHT to them so they could LEARN from His example and also become Able as He was. But they preferred to repeat history and rejected the grace of God giving them a Brother to learn from and become BETTER. However unlike Abel, He overcame death and it actually worked out for good because now He can be that Light through His Word for all to see and learn from Him.

So don't trash your Abel LEARN from them, they are there to help you. Don't despise them be grateful and learn, be BETTER!

"If you do well, will you not be accepted?"(1)

So to all the Cain out there... Be humble, learn and CHOOSE to do better like that Abel in your life so you too can also become Able. And to all the Abel's... Keep giving that Cain in your life something to look up to, keep SHINING your light for all to see!
